Charlotte Hall Watson, 6, of the Belmont neighborhood in Charlottesville, Virginia, died October 28th, 2013.

Charlotte was born on October 7th, 2007 in Charlottesville, Virginia to Megan Smith-Watson and James Marcellus Watson. She was a member of Mrs. Massie & Ms. Anderson’s kindergarten class at Clark Elementary School and enjoyed biking and walking to school with her parents and her big sister Marley. Previously, she attended the International School and the Belmont House of Living Culture. She was a SOCA Hot Shot player on the Orange Eagle team and the unofficial mascot for the Girls on the Run team at Clark Elementary School. Charlotte recently ran the Clark Elementary School Buzz 5K Run in Belmont with her sister, parents, and the Clark community. She adored her dogs Sweetie and Hoover and loved walking and playing with them at Belmont Park. She loved to sing and dance to all of the cool music her parents played around the house. She even gave herself a hip hop nickname, “Beat Box Charley.” It wasn’t all pop songs, though; Charlotte asked to be serenaded to sleep every evening with “Silent Night.” Above all, Charlotte loved her family.

Charlotte was a joy to all who knew her and brightened every room she entered with her confident self-expression and fun-loving spirit. In her short life she touched so many people who miss her deeply and will remember her always.

She is survived by her parents Megan Smith-Watson and James Marcellus Watson, her sister Marley Christina Watson, and a very large, loving family who adored her.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 2nd at the Belmont Baptist Church, 830 Monticello Avenue, Charlottesville, Virginia, followed by a celebration of Charlotte’s life in Belmont Park. Joyful attire requested. Full details will be shared at www.welovecharlottewatson.com as they are confirmed.
