Dear Charlotte’s family,

My wife told me about Charlotte and then the CCS email gave me a much appreciated link to parts of your family’s life. In looking at the beautiful pictures and reading the loving words I was able to get to know at least a part of your wonderful gift from Jehovah (God personal name) whom you named Charlotte (Marley too is a good big sister) and i was moved. I can see that you are deeply spiritual, so I wanted to offer you these words of comfort from God’s Word the Bible. Please, I beg you, to pray that you will always remember that God has resurrected humans in the past (8 reported instances in the Bible; both female and male; both young and old). Therefore, please take comfort in knowing that Jehovah will certainly resurrect our loves ones, and please know that he is eager to do so!! (Acts 24:15) In 1st Corinthians 15:26, the Bible calls death Jehovah’s enemy. As you know, not one of God’s enemies have ever succeeded against Him. Thus we can take some comfort is knowing that we will get to hug our beloved daughters again. Please picture that, it will occur.

Thank you for sharing your pictures and pieces of your lives with me. I look forward to meeting you ALL in person after that most wonderful day when Jehovah will resurrect “all those in the memorial tombs” (John 5:28)

There may not be many words that will comfort you all at this time, but I just wanted to let you know that my family and I are praying that you find peace and understanding during this difficult time. I can recall seeing  your family many mornings on the way to school while dropping off my own sons. I am so sorry for your loss.

To the Watson Family, I did not know your daughter, but I’m sure if we had met, I would have loved her. She sounds like an amazing kid. Being a nanny and a caregiver, and having read about her death, so saddened me. I send you love, hugs, prayers…….and my tears.

Charlotte was an unstoppable bundle of energy and joy.  Whimsy wreathed around her like smoke curling from a potion she brewed in her mind.  I’ll miss her unique ideas (a squiggle becomes Ganesha) and her infectious smiles.

Love to you three Megan, James, and Marley.  Remember that the strength of the pyramid comes from its base and though the sides are triangles which you now are, Charlotte will always be at your base and core to make your foundation unshakeable.

It was rainy and cool this morning when I heard.  But, quite unexpectedly and contrary to all the weather forecasts, the sun has come out and it’s warm and lovely here now.  I think that must be a little of Charlotte’s bright spirit reaching all the way here to New England.

Sorrow Halved Joy Doubled

A sorrow shared is a sorrow halved; a joy shared is a joy doubled.

Each one of us who loves Charlotte is experiencing a sorrow deeper than almost any other which has come before. I pray that by sharing this sorrow, truly the sorrow is halved.

I pray that the Lord’s blessings and deep inner joy will permeate each heart at the celebration of her life tomorrow, so that not only will joy be doubled, but joy will be increased a hundredfold. I pray that each of you clings to that joy every day henceforth!

The joy that Tom and I felt while watching Charlotte dance and do the hula hoop at Josh and Chelsea’s party is a joy that remains in our hearts always. We did not know her well, but we are so blessed that we did get to know her, and share in her sweet happy spirit.

The absolute greatest joy is knowing that Charlotte is dancing with Jesus, and that one day we will be dancing with her as well. By the time that we get to heaven, she will have perfected some amazing dance moves, and will have the most glorious songs to sing to us!

I worked with James at Arch’s Frozen Yogurt for a few years, and always remember his big smile and hearty laugh.  I see so much of both of you in the pictures of beautiful Charlotte.

The grief is too much to bear.  It is a loss that no parent or sibling should have to ever experience.  It is wrong and horrifying and lonely and agonizing.  The fact that you are able to somehow manage to share this experience with the community in hopes of having us love and value and treasure our own precious little ones is a testament to your spirits and big hearts.   Thank you for sharing that gift with us during this dark time for your family and close friends.

I was awake all last night thinking about the fact that your hearts and souls are so empty right now, yet so painfully sharp.  And when I heard my six-year old wake up at 3 AM to throw-up, I couldn’t have been more happy.  How selfish of me to be able to hug and luxuriate in her feverish body, while you just felt empty space.

I will keep you all in my hearts and prayers, and I will think of you with appreciation that you helped us all find perspective that this world is lacking.  I wish I could take all of it away for you.

Our Condolences

Our family had the pleasure of  meeting Charlotte and Marley one day at Tonsler Park… I couldn’t forget their sweet smiles, the enthusiasm they had for picking the wildflowers that were growing on the hill, or the way they reminded me so much of my two daughters. I was so incredibly sad to hear the news today and wish I could do something to help your family. I am so, so sorry. There are no words for the pain you must be feeling. Thinking of your family often in the days to come.



It’s hard to know just what to say, when one so young is taken away.

Far too soon she had to part, Her memory forever engraved in our heart.

We only knew her for a short while, but the life she led made us smile.

She was so beautiful and oh so rare, Life as they say just isn’t fair.

Those gone before her will watch her with care, till the day comes we’ll all join her there.

Every time I saw Charlotte’s face pop-up over the fence when she was jumping on the trampoline… I couldn’t help but smile. Victor Hugo said, “Happiness is the conviction that we are loved.” Charlotte was the happiest.
